Baidong Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is at Village Baidong in western part of Dongtian Township of Ziyuan County, Guangxi. The Baidong Fm (Central-South Compiling Group for Regional Stratigraphic Scale, 1974) is derived from the Baidong Limestone proposed by Zhao Jinke (Chao Kingkoo) and Zhang Wenyou (Chang W.Y.) in 1959.

Lithology and Thickness
In the type area, the Baidong Fm is composed of black thick-bedded siliceous limestone intercalated with muddy limestone lumps. In the vicinity of Huajiang in Xing'an, it is also composed of black compact limestone.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
A conformable contact is observed between the Baidong Fm and the underlying Cambrian Bianxi Fm (spelled Pianchi Fm in this lexicon)
Upper contact
A conformable contact is observed between the Baidong Fm and the overlying Huang'ai Fm
Regional extent
The Baidong Fm changes considerably in thickness and lithology. In Xing'an, it is 34 m thick, and consists of limestone, and westward to Lingui, it is 16 m thick and consists of muddy limestone intercalated with calcareous shale, but eastward to Quanzhou, it is 120 m thick and is composed of limestone intercalated with mudstone or dolomite.
